Like the rain

If I were the rain, would I be able to connect with someone’s heart, the way the rain connects with the never intersecting sky and earth?
“Don’t go” I blurred hastily, her eyes gloomed against the bright light of the moon, it was a full moon that night, her long legs rattled, hands shivering against the cold blowing wind.
I couldn’t shake that thought, that remnant of memory in my head, that sore feeling when your heart slowly fills itself with emptiness, with nothing but pain, sorrow, loneliness, when it feels like all of your hearts contents spills out and all that’s left is a shred of what it used to be.
“Leave me alone!” she said painfully, it felt like her beautiful green eyes were staring right into my soul, “love fades, mine has”. Those words felt like a shot to the heart, “Let go of her, move on” every ounce of my soul and body were telling me to move on but my heart, well my heart’s something special I guess, almost as stubborn as her. My heart wouldn’t let go of her, wouldn’t let go the feeling of us being together, being loved.
“You know” I replied. “The two hardest things to say in life are hello for the first time…” I froze.
“And the second?” She asked impatiently. “The second thing is…” Thunder was heard in the background and she looked back, slashing against the wind I flashed right next to her, body facing forward head facing down, “ Goodbye for the last” I raised my head to confront her face, I held her hand as tight as I could “Goodbye”.
As I kept walking to the opposite side of her our hands slowly lost hold until eventually breaking apart, just like us.
Love does fade, mine has to I guess.
