Black Eyes-Chapter 5

The alarm clock ticked. I woke up slowly to shut the noise down when I felt a cold breeze that chilled my hairs. Then there was a familiar voice ‘Jade, I’m here’ it said. I looked t the open window and saw her floating in midair as if she never died, and as if it was another morning which she came to eat with me breakfast. I almost passed out from shock, it was just a dream, how can this be real, I thought.
She came closer to me at the same time as I moved slowly backwards, as if she was an animal ready to eat me. ‘Its ok,’ she told me, ‘I’m not biting, well I can’t touch you but that doesn’t matter’.
I kept moving back until I hit the wall. She stopped moving closer, so there was two meters of space between us. ‘How c-c-can th-t-this hap-pen’ I managed to say.
And Alex spoke again, ‘well I explained you in your sleep that I’m coming back, didn’t I?’
‘Yes’, I said, ’but that was a dream.’ But just when Alex was about to answer my mom came in.
‘Hello dear, aren’t you ready for school yet?’ she said.
‘Mom, can you see Alex floating just there?’ and I pointed where Alex was. She hesitated a bit before answering, this was the first time in a week I said Alex’s name.
‘Oh dear, ok you can have a day free, I know you’re sad about Alex but you’ll get over it, you won’t forget her but you will remember her as a wonderful thing that happened in your life. Now, if you want you can go back to sleep.’ And she hurried out of the room.
‘Why can’t she see you?’ I finally asked Alex.
‘Because of two things- the first she’s an adult, so none can even give her the See, and second, only you can see me.’
