Black Eyes-Chapter 1

You know how in seconds your life can change for, like, forever. Yes, sounds weird, but sometimes it comes to good.
But sometimes it doesn’t.
Just like now.
I’m in the hospital, but unfortunately not for me.
Maybe it’s best if I will start from today’s morning.

I woke up and got ready for school, as always. And after breakfast Alex, my best friend, came into the kitchen to have breakfast with me too, as usual. At that time I still didn’t know that today would be the worst day of my life.
Me and Alex went to school and met some other buddies in the walk. Everyone was admiring Alex new haircut, it was pretty nice. She had her hair cut to shoulder length so that her blonde hair would look tidier. We went to our lockers which were one next to the other and took out our maths book. Oh, how we hated maths. But Ms Espinal gave me an A on the last pop quiz. So I guessed today would be a good day.
But dear God, how wrong was I.
After all our lessons we were about to go home when Alex realized she stepped on a gum. So all the way to the gates she was obsessive with taking the stupid gun off her all-stars. It made me laugh the way she jumped and leaned on random guys, but then we got to the road. I started telling Alex that if she lay it of for a few seconds we could cross the street because that road was super dangerous and it always freaked me out. Because cars can come from the other way and you can never see them. But she just wouldn’t listen.
And then we both went on. She was jumping up and down with her left shoe still trying to take the gum of with a stick. And then, she fell down.
There was a yell of pain.
A truck coming.
A shout.
Silence.
