New York
This is a task that we've got for English class – an essay about New-York, so this is my essey, which brought me a mark of 95 points.
New-York City is a study in contrast, maybe because it's the densest city in the United States of America. Although it's a city in America, 28.4% of it is populated with different people from other nations: there are Italians, Germans, Russian, Irish, Polish, English, Greeks, French, Hungarians, Ukrainians, Portuguese, Scottish, Scotch-Irish, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish. 28.4% is a huge number, since New-York-City, "the big apple" includes 8.2 million people. This number equals to the number of citizens in Israel and Azerbaijan, Monaco, San-Marino and Luxembourg together. There are so many people from different countries, that in 2005, 170 languages were spoken in New-York. Since this city is so big, it's quite easy to comprehend why it has so many faces.
This city has one of the strongest economy statues in the world. Actually, it's the second in the all vast world, right after Tokyo.
The city is a center of economy, and it contains the center of the security, real estate, connecting and financial of all the Unites States. Wall Street, which placed in New-York, has the most impact in the world, but even though New-York is known for its great economy, there is also a pretty big number of people who are broke, which panhandle in the streets, and it just shows the fact that the disparity between the rich people to the poor is just getting bigger and bigger.
Even though it seems like the New-Yorkers people are computer and high-tech people, but another branch of economy in the big apple, is the culture. Who haven't heard about "Broadway" before? Probably that no one, since this is one on the most (If not the best) famous theatre in the world. Another known place as well is the "Time square" which is called after the building of the new-paper "New Your Times". This square contains stores, commercials, and theatres. All this square is colourful and magical. A funny rule is the one that says that the businesses must have a huge shining sign, to keep the square colourful. Today, Times Square is a very known and popular place, which tourist can buy souvenirs and people can hang-out, and have some fun.
To reach this square, people have so many transportation ways to choose from, for example: the subway, the busses or the taxis. 75% of the New-Yorkers don't even have their own private car, while the average in the rest of the United-States is standing on 8%. One of three people who use the public transportation is a person who lives in New-York. 66% of the people, which is two of three people, are living in the suburbs of New-York, and use the subway to reach their work. The subway contains 468 stations, and it's the biggest number in the all world of train's stations. Israel has only 52.
This city is so huge; that you can also guess how enormous is the crime there. By a
Survey that was made in 2008, it was discovered that there are 580.3 violence situations per 100,000 people there. Aggravated assault situations' number is standing on 297.6 cases per 100,000 people. This number is just huge.
But even though New-York has lots of crime in it, it also has a quiet big several of cultures. New-York is rich with contrasts. New York is a unique, amazing, enriching and cultural city, and it is one of a kind, shining bright through the vast world. Come and see the diversity of New-York-City for yourself!
