Do Not Degrade History

"Why haven't you done these pages that I explicitly told you to do?" asked me the teacher. I raised my sight to look at her. "I didn't want to do those pages," I said to her. Needless to say that she was thunderstruck. After the first shock, her surprise became into an anger.
"No one had asked you, young boy," she yelled at me.
I just sighed. "How would history help me in life?"
"How?!" She was outraged.
"Yes, that is exactly what I said," I answered.
"Well, it will teach you a lesson, and to all of you," said the teacher.
I was confused.
"What?" I asked.
"For tomorrow – write me an essay which explains why is it so essential to learn history."
"But I don't want to!"
"You have to!"
"Who said?"
"Me."
I didn't keep arguing with her. I was too busy thinking of another idea what shall I do…

On the next day I was walking into our class, and gave her my essay.
"Let's see what have you brought," She muttered.

And she read it out loud:
"History is not important from many reasons, but one of these reasons, which is obfuscating all, is the fact that while we're learning history – we're wasting our time. Can you really imagine Albert Einstein sitting in his room and learning what had happened in Europe on 1204? Does it really matter? I mean, would he creat the relativity with his knowledge of what had happened then? There are so many invantions that changed the world, one depends on the other. Why should we waste our time, learning about things that happened, instead of searching alone about those invantions? The cave-man had discovered the fire. Had he used history?
Thomas Edison wasn't learning at school. I'm sure that a total number of 100% of our classmates would never even see Edison's ankle. He taught himself. No history nor science. He discovered him alone, and even now, I'm quite sure you'd suggest that we'd learn about him. It will help us just as staring at the sun."

Well…
In my imagination she had clapped her hands and gave me a medal.
What really happened was that I've got myself a serious punishment, and I was in troubles at school and at home as well.

Learn from my mistakes. Do not degrade history.
