David
We stood in a long line on the sidewalk and waited. In front of us, at a distance, there was the central plaza of the town. On the side, there were many cafés crowded to zero room. Waiters running between tables with trays full of all goods. People dressed with festive closes walked around with no visible order in any direction. We talked a little with our neighbors and heard a mixture of languages. From time to time, we moved a few meters along the line and stopped. An additional group of people entered the door. They told us that waiting takes two hours or more, but if we join a paid guided tour, we would enter immediately. We preferred to continue to wait. We walked a few steps and stopped again several times. Finally, we arrived at the museum door, and the next time it was our turn, and we entered inside.
I walked and came to an end of a long half-dark corridor. At the other end, the David statue can be observed. In the ceiling, above the statue, there was a big sun window, and the sun lit the statue from above. From both sides of the corridor for its entire length, there were man-sized mythological figures. I stepped slowly, with sacred awe, and came nearer to the statue that became bigger and revealed in full size to my eye.
A nice young woman, with a generous cleavage, came toward me and for a moment hid the statue. And then I thought, with all respect to Angelo, there is a greater sculptor.
